I am very concerned that the Wadsworth widening project transitioned into two phases because of lack of funds. Ken Johnston spoke recently at a Wheat Ridge Chamber luncheon and confirmed that if the phase II money comes in sometime after phase I is completed in two years, then this project could take as long as three to five years. That would dramatically hurt all businesses along the Wadsworth corridor for way to long. The pandemic has seriously impacted small businesses, which is bad enough. Traffic disruptions for Wheat Ridge businesses for up to five years would be catastrophic. I hope the city will not vote to start any work until all the money is in so that everything can be finished in two years.
